Purchase of License

SearchBlox is licensed per instance per Host based on the IP Address. Upon purchase of one or more licenses, Registered Users are entitled to:

  • Free upgrades to latest versions of SearchBlox for a period of 12 months.
  • Access e-mail support services for 12 months.

Important: At the end of the initial free maintenance period, you may continue to use the latest version of SearchBlox that you have downloaded -OR- renew your maintenance agreement (see below) for another 12 months and continue to access new versions and support.

Which IP Address?

It is possible for the deployment server to have several IP Addresses assigned to it. To determine which IP Address you should provide for use in the SearchBlox license, deploy the SearchBlox FREE Edition on the server. Start SearchBlox and login into the SearchBlox Admin Console. Click on the Admin tab to check the IP Address:

The IP address can also be found in the status.log file located in the /searchblox/logs directory. The system information in the status.log is shown below:

The <Host IP Address : 192.168.0.3> is the server IP Address that SearchBlox uses for the purposes of licensing. At time of purchase, please provide this IP Address for your SearchBlox License.

Renewal of Annual Maintenance Subscription

At the expiry of the initial 12 month maintenance period, purchased license keys will not work with the latest versions of SearchBlox. Access to e-mail support services will also be discontinued.

Maintenance renewal fees are calculated at 35% of the latest full license cost for the Edition you hold at the time of renewal. On renewal, you will be issued with a new license key. which will extend the maintenance and access to the e-mail support services for a further 12 months.

Notes:

  • Once you have purchased SearchBlox, you are thereafter entitled to renew at the renewal rate, even if your subscription lapses. If your subscription lapses, you can renew at any time (and get the latest version) at the renewal rate for the Edition you last purchased.
  • Renewal will only cover the number and type of licenses originally purchased. Any additional licenses must be purchased at the standard price for the Edition required.

Upgrades

You can upgrade your Edition of SearchBlox to a higher Edition at any time by paying the current difference between the Edition you own and the Edition you wish to upgrade to (registered users only). Renewal rates thereafter will be calculated at the higher license level.

Note: Upgrading your license does not renew or extend your subscription period.

Delivery

Once you have paid the license fee, you will be sent an e-mail with the license key. The download file is the same for all the Editions - the license key enables the purchased Edition.

SearchBlox includes software components from various Open Source Software. Your use of these software components is subject to certain third-party licensing terms and conditions. A list of third-party software components follows below with links to relevant licensing terms.
