With structured relational data stored in database tables, converting them into a faceted search experience is still a lot of manual work for most organizations involving IT development hours. SearchBlox makes it easy to create a faceted search experience with relational data using the Database Collection type. If you have data residing in MySQL, Oracle or Microsoft SQL Servers, SearchBlox lets you write a simple Select statement to pick the title, description and required fields for faceting and index them for searching. Best of all, after you setup your Select statement, you can setup a polling interval (every hour or 30/15/5 minutes etc.) to continuously look for the changed data so your search is in total sync with your database. No more creating flat files to import into search engines or running a cron job to look for updates to the database.
Presenting your faceted search results is also out of the box and comes with auto-suggest and spelling suggestions to assist the users to find the right database records. Your search results can also be setup for output in xml or json so you can integrate into other applications without writing complicated backend logic for search. Your data is available for full text search and you can find terms with boolean, proximity, fuzzy and wildcard operators without hanging up your database with long queries.
