We are proud to announce the release of SearchBlox 8.0 beta with the following benefits to take your enterprise to the next generation search platform.
Marketing/Communications content goes beyond your website – Twitter Collection
With the new release, we have made indexing twitter a reality and within reach to all organizations with a few clicks. Follow your brands, customer support messages or executive tweets on twitter and make their messages part of the search on your website. Track hashtags or keywords on twitter and make them available for search. Geo-tagged tweets can also be indexed to filter down to cities or communities etc. Once you setup a twitter collection, the tweets are indexed continuously and instantly available for search.
Index product feeds or flat files with content – CSV Collection
SearchBlox can now index your content or data from comma separated value based text files for faceted search. If you have product data or logs with custom events or flat files with text information, the CSV collection can index the files and as new files arrive process them as well. The CSV crawler can process large volume of rows within minutes and break them into facets as required by you. Whether you are indexing a product catalog or custom logs, SearchBlox can process them very efficiently for search.
NoSQL content stored with MongoDB is available for faceted search – MongoDB Collection
The MongoDB crawler can index content within the MongoDB databases and make them available for faceted search along with other content for a federated search experience. The best part of SearchBlox is that once it is setup, the crawler runs continuously for indexing the information that is added, updated or deleted within MongoDB.
Add/Delete urls/files on HTTP and File system collection using new API calls – API Enhancements
The new additions to the API included the ability to add or delete a single url or file system document into the HTTP and Filesystem collection index. This allows you to use the crawler for indexing websites, or folders on a share drive and in addition use the API for individual documents avoiding the use of the crawler for a few files or to do programmatic updates from external applications.
Bulk Import/Export of Featured Results
The featured results function has been very popular with our marketing users and we are expanding functionality to allow for bulk export and import of featured results so marketing teams can do mass updates rather than entering them one at a time through the console.
Business Users can view Analytics and update Featured Results
The SearchBlox Admin now has the ability to create business users who can view analytics on search and content as well as update Featured Results. This new user role allows admins to setup the main configuration of search and collections but enable the marketing or communications users to take control of search query analysis and featured results.
The new release also provides greater control over the ranking and relevance of search results through Collection based boosting and web based synonyms so your search results are accurate and usable. Collection based boosting allows you to rank some collections higher than others based on your requirements for federated search. The web based synonyms feature allows you to enter terms that have a similar terms for better search results.
Overall the new version has been architected for high concurrency of index/search operations and has a new user experience for administration of the search, analytics and faceted search.
