As more applications use S3 buckets as repositories for storing documents, images, videos and unstructured data files, the challenge of providing full text search on these documents is an important requirement. Once these files are indexed the first time round, they also have to be consistently checked for changes and new files or removed files to keep a fresh index of the search. SearchBlox provides an easy way to index and search them through the S3 buckets using our S3 collection that is coming with next version of the software.
With the S3 Collection, all you need to do is provide the access and secret key for indexing an S3 bucket. You can specify inclusion and exclusion patterns in addition to a polling interval for keeping the search index fresh and relevant to your users. The search results are provided with the full http urls pointing to the s3 bucket making it easy for the users to view/download the files from S3. The S3 collection has many features to enable indexing the documents without having to write a line of code or trying to implement any 3rd party tools to serve the documents.
