Getting Started with SearchBlox on Amazon EC2

- To use SearchBlox on Amazon EC2, you must have an Amazon EC2 account. To sign up for Amazon EC2 (http://aws.amazon.com/) , click the "Sign up for This Web Service" button on the Amazon EC2 page.
- Install the Elasticfox plugin to access your Amazon EC2 services. http://developer.amazonwebservices.com/connect/thread.jspa?threadID=17717&tstart=0
- Once you install the plugin, the Elasticfox plugin can be accessed under Tools > Elasticfox in your FireFox browser. Click on the Credentials button and enter Account Name, AWS Access Key and AWS Secret Access Key, then click Add. Your AWS Access Key and AWS Secret Access Key is available within the Amazon Web Services account page. Click the refresh button on the Machine Images section to see all available images. Scroll down to find SearchBlox AMIs or type searchblox in the search box to find all SearchBlox AMIs.
- Right click on the SearchBlox Free Edition AMI and click Launch Instance of this AMI. After you click the Launch button from the dialog box, you should see your Instance appear in the bottom section where it says Your Instances. This is your EC2 instance. It will say "Pending" initially when booting up the instance, after a minute or so, please click the Refresh button on the your Instances section and it will change to "Running". The Public DNS can be obtained by right clicking on the Instance to copy Public DNS name. Put this in the browser address field, hit enter and and it will redirect you to the Search page.
- Go to http://{amazon_public_dns_name}/searchblox/admin/main.jsp in your browser for accessing the admin console and login using username : admin / password : admin
- Within the admin console, go to Collections Tab and Click on Add Collection to create a new collection.
- Choose a unique name for your collection and Click Add to finish creating the collection.
- Click on Root Sub-Tab, Type in RootURL (example -http://www.yourwebsite.com/) and click OK.
- Go to Indexer Sub-Tab and click Index button to start indexing.
- Click on the DashBoard Sub-Tab under Collections to view indexing status.
- Go to http://{amazon_public_dns_name}/ to start searching.
